until now, random values as modulation source are organized as waveform
of the LFOs.

I could imagine to have random a separate modulation source, which can
have various clock sources:
* LFO1,
* LFO2,
* external clock in various divisions,
* pattern,
* next key stroke.

The idea comes from the SH-101: As long as no external clock is used,
the random function is clocked by the LFO. As soon as you feed an
external clock, the random function is clocked by this external clock,
while the LFO keeps its separate speed. This is extremely cool for
sequences and arpeggios.
