Hi

when each of your 3HE has its own power supply you should be fine, as each can run 1200mA on +12V as also on the -12V.
you do not add the +12V with the -12V to get the maximum current draw.

the calculation of the current draw should be done with maximum draw. so hopefully there will be no peaks above the calculation.

i have a case with a A-100PSU2 that draws aroun 1100mA from modules and runs ok. well it can get really hot in this case and i heared that maybe the power supply last not that long doing this...

some people say good practice is to have 1/3 or 1/4 headroom on the current consumtion.

Hi, I know this is not the first time it comes in a topic but I'm really confused now. I used Modular Grid to finally see and check what was build together in my racks....well, very confusing it is, one my 3 HE racks is 870 mA +12V and 542 mA -12V plus 50 mA 5V, the other one is 920 mA +12V and 443 mA -12V, the third even is 970 mA +12V and 737 mA -12V !!! And the strangest thing is that everything seems to work normal....how is that possible, is the 1200mA power supply capable of much more, or can it handle large peaks Cheers, Danny
