As far as I know, the only reason the existing Polaris tails failed is that
they were either made out of something other than Mylar, or the green
"protective" layer contained something that attacked the Mylar. If you
examine them closely, you see that they develop hairline fractures. And if
you examine the tails from the right panel, which don't have as sharp a
bend, they may last longer, but they still develop those same fractures. So
it's not the mere fact of the bend. As long as the tail isn't creased, it
should last indefinitely, if made out of the right stuff.
