Subject: Chroma Polaris # 301654 Revived From The Dead

From: adirondack_pc@...
Date: 2018-06-24

Well, after all of the questions and answers I received, my Polaris is singing a new tune.  Several issues were found therein, although some of them not serious.

1) Reseated all chips and jumpers.  Lost one - replaced it.

2) Broke low "C", but fixed it beautifully...  have a spare anyway.

3) Replaced the power supply and it's not overheating.  I can't cook a steak on it any more.

4) Put some thermal paste on the CPU under the "lid".  Still quite warm, but probably cooler than before.         Arctic Silver is some good poop!

Did all the diagnostics and they worked, loaded 2 tapes of patches, played for a few hours.  Woo Hoo!  Evey darn patch was played - in each set.

The last thing is going in a message all by itself, because it may have an effect on others and they may not know it.  I guessed it, not having any clues to go by.

Thanks for all of the help - those who responded to my inane messages!
