RAM is quite reliable. However, different software versions locate things in different places in the RAM, so upgrading requires that you redo all the calibrations and reload your data. If the panel switches work but you're getting no sound, that is likely the problem. If the switches don't respond, then you could perhaps have mislabeled the EPROMs and inserted them in the wrong order. If it worked before the change, then it should work after the change.
